Hardwood flooring provides a choice of colors as unique as the woods themselves.  A floor can reflect the individual tastes and lifestyle of the owner and can be maintained quickly and easily by use of today's state-of-the-art maintenance products.

Flooring can be sanded and refinished to change color so your home can be color coordinated with new floor covering colors and trends.

At Room by Room we work with Red Oak, White Oak, Maple, Walnut, Merabau, Ebony, Ash, Hickory, Brazilian Cherry, Pine, Cherry, Purpleheart, Beech, Birch, Mahogany, Kempas, Jarran, Teak and Chestnut which are just a few of the many beautiful wood species used in flooring today.

Pre-finished hardwood flooring is hardwood flooring that is pre-finished by the manufacturer. These products come in various styles and qualities and can be installed virtually anywhere. Pre-finished hardwood flooring for most applications can be installed in a day or two, with a fraction of the dust and none of the noxious odors inherent in finished-in-place flooring. Modern technology has limited the disadvantages of over-wood and offers some exceptional finishes and multiple coats of factory varnish to increase the life of the floor.

  • Solid Hardwood Floors – come from a solid piece of hardwood cut into wood planks that are generally 3/4" thick.
  • Engineered Hardwood Floors – consist of several plies of wood that are glued and laminated together to form a wood plank. They range in thickness from 1/4" to just over a half inch. Because the wear layer is not full thickness they can usually only be refinished once during their lifetime... but that still is a very long time.
  • Parquet Wood Floors - a North American term for geometric, rectangular blocks of wood that are either glued or nailed down, depending on the type of parquet construction.
  • Exotic Hardwood Floors – This term is used to describe hardwood species from around the World. These wood species are not found in North America and are imported from Australia, Africa, Brazil and the Far East.  Exotic hardwoods offer unique wood graining and more uncommon colorations. Most exotic hardwood floors are available in the engineered wood construction and some are available in solid wood planks as well.
